That's Entertainment
I used to take the Metro all the time. But now that I live in the boonies, well, we don't have public transportation. So I had forgotten just how entertaining a good Metro ride could be. I'm not sure if you see the most interesting people in the middle of the day when most people are at work, or during rush hour when the train is packed. The middle of the day is better for laughing at tourists, and it's never hard to spot them. But rush hour is better for the supposedly "normal" people coming home from work.
I'm pretty sure there was a gremlin behind me at one point on my way home. That's what the growling sounded like, but I couldn't spot the source. One woman never broke eye contact with her reflection; I wanted to tell her that she wasn't really all that. One man was so lazy that he stepped onto an escalator that wasn't working, walked down about three steps, decided it was too much effort and climbed back to the top (against the rush hour stream) to get on an escalator that was working. An older woman with an injured foot almost beat a tourist dad with her cane after he forced his double-wide stroller over her leg.
It's like the best of America's Funniest Home Videos, combined with Overheard in the City. Really quite a deal for less than $5.
