Dem Bones, Dem Bones, Dem Dry Bones

I wrongly assumed that after cancer I'd get a free pass on other bodily malfunctions. Not so much. In the dark hours of Monday morning, I woke up with a shooting pain in my right side. I've had all sorts of right side problems in the past, like kidney stones and ovarian cysts, so I figured it was one of those again and went back to sleep. Before lunch on Monday I decided that this pain was a little more than I could deal with on my own, so I made an appointment with the doctor for that afternoon.

He poked and prodded and found a spot on my bottom right rib that when touched sends me flying off the table. At this point, his list of possibles included a muscle spasm in my ribs, pneumonia, my gall bladder and maybe the kidney stone and the ovarian cyst, but not likely. I should have taken him up on the offer for x-rays or scans then, but in the hope that whatever it was would go away, I took the prescription for pain meds and made an appointment for today.

Today the pain is no better and he still doesn't have any idea what is wrong with me. We've ruled out kidney stone. I just had about six x-rays taken of my chest and ribs, but I don't know what they found because there wasn't a doctor there to look at them. I think pneumonia is at the top of his list, but I just don't understand how I could possible have pneumonia without so much as a cough. I'll go back to see him again on Saturday and if the x-rays don't show anything and it's not any better, he'll order a CT scan. I really thought I was through with the scanning period of my life, but I guess not. Here's hoping that whatever it is goes away!
