Blackjack!

We've survived three weeks.  I just got the calendar reminder that I set every time we go to the library so we return our books on time, but no books will be going back to the library this week.  The libraries are closed, as are the book drops.  We didn't get to start our Spring Tinkergarten class, or go to the Little Gym for the last four weeks.  We have gotten to have some wonderful Zoom story times with little friends and teachers from preschool, and I've been to a Zoom birthday party and a Skype happy hour.

I filled up the car with gas on the Friday morning everything began to shut down, and paid $1.99/gallon, which was very low.  I've driven less than 50 miles in the last 3 weeks, most of them the day I filled up.  Today gas is $1.59 at the same Costco. (I checked on my phone - we didn't go out.)

We've painted windows, drawn on glass, planted seeds in eggshells, pressed flowers collected on our afternoon walks, solved puzzles, ridden bikes and scooters for miles, and done more projects and experiments than I can name.  The Monkey will likely emerge from our isolation 3 inches taller, as she eats fruit by the bushel and seems to have a bottomless pit.  It's been wonderful to be home with her.

And it's been stressful to be home with her, because I'm still "at work" at the kitchen table or in the office upstairs.  She doesn't understand what I do or why I have to be on the phone or video chat all day, when I really should just be playing with her.  It's hard to have work/life balance when it's all confined to the same space.  I don't want her to remember this period as the time when she was told "No, not now, when Mom is done working, please be quiet," over and over it.  Thank goodness it's Friday, and we have two days of nothing but yes ahead of us.
