Oh Christmas Tree!
I love Christmas. But more than that, I love Christmas trees. The bigger, the better. As a grown woman, I actually pitched a small fit when my parents waited too long to buy their tree and got one I deemed too small. That fit paled in comparison to the one I threw a few years later when they switched to a fake tree. So it's a little odd that for the past several years, I haven't even had a Christmas tree.
I know I always had a Christmas tree when I lived in Charlottesville, but I don't know that I've had one since I moved to NoVa. Lindsay and I might have had one that first year, but I can't picture it, only the multitudes of snowflakes Lindsay made that year. Linds, did we have a tree? I know Jeremy and I didn't have a Christmas tree. We did hang lights on the ficus tree and hang a barrel of monkeys from it, so maybe that counts.
And I haven't had a tree since I've lived here by myself. I don't actually spend Christmas here and it has always seemed more like an extended stay hotel than a home, so I just never put in the effort. But this year, I had to have a tree. I saw this adorable little rosemary bush at Whole Foods and knew it would be perfect for my apartment. It's a little overwhelmed by the smallest strand of lights I could find, but it smells delicious and I love it. Here's the extent of my Christmas decorating:

We put up a tiny tree this year that usually goes in my office, because the construction mess has interfered with decorating. I'm a little depressed.
