Tool Time

Lots of projects going on around the house to keep me out of trouble.

Last week, Dad put in two flower beds for me in the back yard and I spent the weekend planting hosta, vinca, day lilies and begonias. I also bought a blue delphium that I'm anxious to plant, but I think I'll have to rearrange some of the landscaping that came with the house to accomodate it. It would be helpful if I could figure out what the bushes that the builder planted are, but we've never seen them before, so I guess I'll have to wait until they bloom to figure that out.

I'm also planning a patio for the back yard. This project will be a little slower, though, since I have to get approval from the HOA first. If you feel like stopping by and helping with some excavation and the moving of heavy paver stones, just let me know.

The walls in the garage were not finished, so I started sanding them this weekend so that they can be painted. Once that's done, I'm going to seal the concrete floor. Then more shelves can be installed. It's amazing how quickly you accumulate tools and supplies when you own a home, especially when you go to Lowe's at least once a week.

My new desk and chair were delivered yesterday, so I can finally start organizing my office. This is where all of the miscellaneous junk has been dumped, so it'll be nice to impose some order on the place.

After the furniture was delivered yesterday, Dad moved the thermostat from the family room to the hallway. The original location made absolutely no sense; it was right over the cable jack so the television caused it to heat up and run anytime it was on, and it was also on the wall to the closet where the furnace unit and hot water heater are located, so they would heat up behind the thermostat. Hopefully the new location will keep the electric company's hands out of my pockets. And I'm sure the four hours it took to find the blown fuse last night will save a little bit on electricity, too.
