Snot

I was trying to convince myself that this isn't really a cold, that maybe I was having an allergy despite the fact that I take my allergy medicine every day. Then I looked in the mirror and saw how red and swollen my eyes are and how red my nose is and I was forced to admit that I have a cold. I've been through a box of tissues in 24 hours. The only reason I care is this Friday's chemo; I don't know if they'll give me chemo with a cold and I don't know how this will impact my blood counts. They can deny me chemo if my counts are too low or they can make me get that damned shot again. I don't consider either of these viable options, so this cold needs to take a hike so I can finish chemo as planned on Friday. I guess the 45,000 people at the race on Saturday qualify as the "large crowd" I am supposed to be avoiding for this very reason. Oops!

Hi Melissa, I am hoping that things will go well for you this Friday. I don't think you ever mentioned if the shot did, in fact, raise your counts like it was supposed to (I just remember that your bones hurt, so you were assuming it was at work)....Did your counts show that it worked?

Praying for you as you make the last lap!! You are soooooo close now. I hope you can muster up that big SPRINT and conquer that finish line so the chemo will become yesterday's event.

Love, hugs, and prayers for your strength from all of my family. We are sooo cheering you on and looking forward to having this phase of your battle behind you.

Thanks for teaching all of us - over and over - what a warrior is and what a warrior does.
