The Bucket List

You may have seen the preview for the new Jack Nicholson/Morgan Freeman movie "The Bucket List." Freeman and Nicholson, two terminally ill cancer patients, set out to achieve their list of things they want to do before they kick the bucket. I once tried to come up with such a list, but in the end it wasn't very exciting and I put it aside. There is no one thing I have a burning desire to do or place I have to see before I die. I would love to drive cross-country and see the other 30 odd states I've never been to. I'd love to add a few more stamps to my passport. I'd love to fall hopelessly in love, with someone that loves me back. I'd love to own my own house. I'd love to have a baby. I'd love to see a cure for cancer found in my lifetime. It doesn't take a lot to make me happy, so I'm OK with the fact that I don't have a list. I'm just enjoying life as it comes. Do you have a bucket list? What's on it?

I recently bought the book "1000 Places to See Before You Die" so I'd like to check some of those places out before I'm too old to move!

Maybe you don't need a list of things to do before you die. Instead, maybe you could focus on more short term desires...like a 100 things to do in 1001 days list, or that kind of thing that is going around.

I have a list, but it depresses me. I started it when I was 17 and I got half of it done before I turned 23 and so I feel like I need to add to it. Otherwise I just look at the list and think "Huh. So my life's basically downhill from here."

There is only one thing on my list, really and that is to hike (wade?) the Narrows at Zion National Park. I've tried a few times but due to weather or time or river conditions or whatever I haven't done it. I don't know how many more times I'll find myself in southern Utah, but I will do it! There are lots of things I want to do and see, but that is my one nemesis that I have to do! I've been thwarted too many times. :)

My problem is not the things I have not yet done but want to; my problem is the list of things I have done and wish I hadn't.
