Shake It Up

Last year felt a little bit like I was trapped in a snow globe that had fallen into the hands of a six year old boy with mischief in his heart. Instead of shaking gently, he was violently turning my world upside down. Instead of being blanketed by soft, fluffy snow, I was hit with chunks of debris, carried on a tornado.

This year I've slipped inside a different snow globe. It's being handled gently by a very well behaved little girl. She shakes it just enough to keep things interesting and make the scenary change. There are no flying cars or houses in this new globe, just soft white snow surrounding a healthy, happy life.

My globe is getting a good little shake right now, and I can't wait to tell you what it's going to look like once all of the glitter settles.

I'm reminded of our old field hockey cheer..."Can you shake it, shake it, shake it? Can you Jamaica shake it?..."

You deserve a beautiful scene and I'm glad things are looking up.

By the way, this post is a great example of metaphor and imagery that I think I will share with my students.
