Less Is More
Have you ever just looked around at all of the stuff you have and wondered why? Why do we need so much junk? And why do we keep buying more of it? It doesn't have to be big stuff and it doesn't take long to accumulate. It wasn't my intention at the beginning of the month, but I managed not to buy anything other than food for the entire month of January. And I didn't feel deprived one bit. I realized I don't need to go wander around Target for entertainment and I certainly don't need the crap I buy while I'm there. Other than a couple of birthdays in February, I think I can go at least another month without buying anything.
I know there is a book and a whole movement that deals with this. I think it's coming from more of an environmental sustainability angle than I am, but it is interesting to me nonetheless. Have you ever tried to declutter and simplify?
