A Solution In Search Of A Problem

Quite often I see some new product or service and think, "Why?" That's exactly what I thought when I stopped to fill my car up with gas and noticed that my neighborhood service station has installed flat screen televisions on top of each pump. Are the pumps so slow that people need to be entertained while they get gas? Or are the gas companies just so flush with cash that they're looking for ways to spend money? I'd happily pay a few cents less per gallon and find some other way to pass the five minutes it takes to fill up my tank.
