Now That's Risque!
I mentioned last week that a lady in the radiation waiting room kept commenting on my "risque" dress. I felt like bringing her a dictionary. Anyway, she comes every day with her husband who is having radiation for prostate cancer. I'd put them in their early 70's. Everyday when he is called back for treatment he gives her his wallet to put in her purse. Since she was sitting next to me, I got an eyeful of the underwear she was carrying balled up in her purse! It's the kind of Victoria's Secret underwear that my sister and I both wear, and a little risque for a woman of her age. I've come up with several possibilities for why she had underwear in her purse. None of them paint a pretty mental picture.
Maybe I'll take a camera with me one day and get pictures of the assorted characters I hang out with every afternoon.
I declared yesterday a mental health day of sorts and took a sick day from work. It is the first unplanned absence I've had since beginning this saga and if you can't call in sick when you have cancer, then when can you? I'm just exhausted from radiation and not getting the sleep I need to recoup, mainly because my hot flashes have kicked into high gear this week. So I spent the day lounging around and resting. I didn't get any more sleep, but I guess a little inactivity helps every now and then, too.
Yesterday marked the halfway point of radiation, so only 16 more treatments to go. My skin is holding up well and just a little pink. The doctor was pleased, so I guess I should be also. Tomorrow I have a followup with the surgeon and hopefully we'll be able to schedule a time to get this port taken out.
